Viticultural experts will discuss organic viticulture at the next meeting of the Sonoma County Vineyard Technical Group at 7:30 p.m. July 18 at the Kendall-Jackson Wine Center, 5007 Fulton Road in Santa Rosa.

The title of the program is "To the Edge and Back. Where Organic Viticulture and New Conventional Farming Meet." Speakers are Phil Coturri, an organic grape grower from Glen Ellen; Devon Gordon of Ag Unlimited in Ukiah and Jane Sooby, technical program coordinator for the Organic Farming Research Foundation in Santa Cruz.

The program is open to all interested grape growers. The evening starts with a wine social at 6:30 p.m.

Tasting room cooperative

Seven small-scale Napa Valley wineries are joining in the Vintners' Collective Tasting Room that opens Aug. 17 in the Pfeiffer Building at 1245 Main St. in Napa.

The cooperative tasting room will feature wines from Mason Cellars, Melka Wines, Vinoce Vineyards, Cafaro Cellars, Patz & Hall, Elan Vineyards and Mi Sueno Cellars.

The Pfeiffer Building is the oldest stone building in Napa. It was built in 1875 and over the years has been home to the Stone Saloon, Sam Kee Laundry and the Andrews Meat Co.
