Deep opaque violet color. Aromas of dark chocolate, white pepper, black pepper with nuances of smoke and leather. The palate is loaded with juicy black fruits – blackberry jam showing excellent concentration. The wine is framed by round, chewy tannins while remaining very soft and approachable. The wine is stylistically akin to a Northern Rhone. Can stand up to the heartiest fare, pair with BBQ’d anything. The 2002 Napa Valley vintage will be marked by big, full wines concentrated color and flavor that wine lovers will enjoy and linger over for a long, long time. We experienced nearly perfect growing conditions in July, August and September. We had the luxury of giving the fruit extra “hang time” in October which resulted in true ripeness and maximum character richness. The grapes reached that special balance of all the elements we call harmony.
