Tasting notes from Proprietor Kal Showket: “The 2007 Showket Vineyards Proprietary Red Wine is a tribute to our vineyard. It is a cuvée which showcases the harmony of our property’s three Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. This wine showcases the complexity of flavors and aromatics that we experience when we walk through the vineyard. The first thing we always notice about this red wine is that it has classic Cabernet Franc aromatics of violets and wild flowers. As the wine opens up, the Merlot component begins to show itself in the form of dark chocolate scents that continue through to the palate, at which point the Cabernet Sauvignon exerts itself with a wave of blackberry and cassis. The textures of this wine really set it apart from any wine we have previously crafted. By using the three varietals, we focused on showing how seductive our varietals taste in the vineyard. The Cabernet Sauvignon is always lively and vibrant; the Merlot is rich and seductive while our Cabernet Franc has weight and intensity. The combination of the three gives this wine an amazing balance and a true sense of place.”
