This vineyard, named for Michael Chiarello’s wife and creating the "reserve level" cabernet in the portfolio, is a lovely rocky patch of soil along the west side of the St. Helena estate. The growing season was longer and cooler than normal, and produced wines that are more characteristic of wines from Bordeaux than Napa Valley. Coming off of a lighter 2004, the vines produced in great quantities, allowing for greater enjoyment from a greater audience.
Tasting notes from Proprietor Michael Chiarello: "An exotic nose (think allspice meets anise) meets a smooth palate, which contains all the strength of dark red currant fruit, plums, mint, toasty oak and a nice earthiness."
Total Production: 550 cases
Aging Potential: 5-9 years
