For Michael Chiarello, this Old Vine Zinfandel block is truly a labor of love. Fantastic quality and very low yield means he can only make 200 cases or less each year. However, Michael felt it is his duty as a steward of this beautiful land to farm the historic 96 year-old vines. They make a spectacular, big fruit forward wine.
Tasting notes from Proprietor Michael Chiarello:
"The 2006 vintage turned out to be a great year for old vine Zinfandel. Showing all the concentration of the small berry vintage. Striking minerality to the nose followed by kirsch, lavender, white flowers and creosote. The texture is almost Petite Sirah-like with hints of blackberries, river stones, Black Muscat and cassis."
Total Production: 150 cases
Aging Potential: 3-7 years
