In only the third vintage of existence, the Mi Sueño’s 2006 Russian River Valley Chardonnay has built up quite a following and tends to sell out soon after its official release date. Like its pinot cousin, the Russian River Chardonnay comes from a vineyard that Mi Sueño shares with Paul Hobbs & Mark Aubert. Sadly, Mi Sueño only has access to a little less than 3 acres to work with, so the production will always be limited to a few hundred cases.
Tasting notes from Proprietor & Winemaker Rolando Herrera: “Although the Russian River Chardonnay is a relatively new addition to Mi Sueño’s Chardonnay lineup, the ‘06 already shows a beauty, an elegance, and complexity well beyond its years. While it may be a bit more subtle in style and texture when compared to the matriarch of Mi Sueño’s chardonnay program (Los Carneros Chardonnay), it’s certainly no less enticing. It sets itself apart by dancing a fine line between a New World and an Old World chardonnay. While the influence of the California sunshine is proudly displayed within a multitude of layers, an Old World charm is derived from a wonderful union of clean minerality, mouthwatering acidity and a hint of toasty oak.”
Total Production: 650 cases
Aging Potential: 2-6 years
