The discussion surfaced on a spring evening over dinner with the Buoncristiani family and friends. When were the Buoncristiani brothers going to finally make a white wine?!! Kristin, lead by her desire for the same, inspired Jay Buoncristiani to take on this project with her, and Gemella was born.
The Wine: Once the desired flavors were at their peak, the fruit was gently whole cluster pressed while very cold and slowly fermented in neutral French oak barrels until complete dryness. Throughout the winemaking process Jay was driven to capture the essence of the Viognier varietal profile while handcrafting a white wine with as much complexity and excitement as the Buoncristiani reds. The aroma exhibits layers of fresh white peaches, apricots, honeysuckle, subtle vanilla, and sweet spices. Flavors on the palate mirror white stone fruits, minerals, and exotic spices with a full body and a long finish with vibrant acidity. Total Production: 232 cases
