The Phelan’s hillside vineyard sits at almost 1200 feet in the southeast corner of the Napa Valley. This part of the Valley is coller than most of the valley, but the altitude of the vineyard and its northwest exposure provides excellent ripening conditions for the estate based wine. Elevation, care, and sunlight produce a wine smooth, yet intense with flavors of rhubarb and chocolate with a lingering finish.
The 2004 growing season was close to ideal in the Napa Valley. Bud break was in early April, with moderate temperatures throughout the summer and fall allowing winemaker bob Egelhoff to pick the ideal harvest interval. 9.9 tons were harvested September 18th 2004. The resulting wine exhibits a deep magenta color. It bombards the nose and palate with multiple layers of black cherry and chocolate, leading to a smooth, velvety finish.
Total Production: 500 cases
