This flashy and gorgeous wine is characterized by its plush fruit and soul-satisfying earthiness. A tougher growing season in 2005 eventually produced some warm to hot days close to harvest and allowed the fruit the ripen gently. Despite some rain in early October, the grapes came in at optimal brix levels.
Once again, the Syrah comes from the acclaimed Unti Vineyard in Sonoma County. In 2005, fruit was harvested from the same vineyard block strategy as in previous years bringing in fruit from two distinct blocks near the front of the vineyard away from Dry Creek which runs along the vineyard’s backside. These two blocks are comprised of shorter rows and hence, more even ripeness throughout.
