Longfellow's 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Carpignano Vineyard, located in what is known as the "Coombsville" area, on the southeast side of Napa proper. Coombsville’s proximity to the San Pablo Bay provide generally cooler weather while its mild elevation keeps the vineyard above the fog maximizing its exposure to the sun. These two aspects--along with well-drained rocky red soil--allow for longer hang times and optimum ripeness.
Tasting Notes from winemaker Rolando Herrera: “Gorgeous indigo color and nuanced aromas of ripe dark fruit, cigar box, and cedar-like oak lead to a blast of black cherry and plum laced with roasted coffee."
