Las Bonitas jumped at the chance to produce a second chardonnay from the renowned Atlas Peak District, the coolest growing region of Napa Valley. The two vineyard blocks combine 5 different variations of Chardonnay: primarily consisting of Hermann Wiemer selection, there are also good amounts of Clones 4, 15, Dijon 76 and Dijon 96. Each type of chardonnay vine adds its own unique flavors to the finished wine.
The wine was fermented and aged in combination of barrels (70% French & American oak, and 30% small stainless steel barrels) with NO malo-lactic fermentation, allowing the wine to retain all of its natural acidity.
Tasting Notes from Proprietor Garret Murphy: “The 2008 displays sweet floral aromas of pear blossoms, apricot, jasmine. On the palate, the texture is rich, soft, and fully ripe. Soft yeasty notes and sweet fruit flavors fill the mouth with a finish of lush tropical fruit and just a touch of lemon zest.”
Total Production: 190 cases
Aging Potential: 3-7 years.
