How is it possible to deliver a consistently-delicious wine year after year knowing that the elements that you'll be working with will likely change? With the exception of the 2003 and 2004 vintages, the percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah have fluctuated in the “El Llano” and the final blend reflects the uniqueness of each harvest as well as an intensive barrel selection process.
Tasting notes from Owner & Winemaker Rolando Herrera: “Its signature deep, dark, purple-black color is the first thing that captures your attention. The intensity of color and clearly evident viscosity only heightens the anticipation for the richness that is to follow. Loaded with a bouquet of tantalizing rich red and black fruit. Scents of plums, figs, blackberries and freshly crushed pomegranate are accented by an explosion of exotic spice, dark chocolate, graphite, ground pepper & freshly turned earth. Luscious & velvety on entry this wine effortlessly unfurls into multi-dimensional layers of rich black fruit flavors, roasted espresso & a dusting of sweet Belgian cocoa. In tandem it shows a nice balance between restraint & power with great concentration and ripe-polished tannins A hint of warm toasty oak contributes to a satisfying, long, persistent finish."
