Michael believes the 2008 Giana Zinfandel is the best rendition to date! The '08 "Giana" Zinfandel is full of ripe black and red fruit notes, including notes of cherry, and a great fresh spice in the finish. It is completed with 3% of the "Roux" Old Vine Petite Sirah. The vineyard is named after Michael's youngest daughter, Giana, and farmed like a cabernet, the goal being high quality not high yield. A wonderfully-versatile wine, drink the "Giana" with everything from red-sauce pastas, grilled meats, smoky BBQ to, well, all by itself!
Tasting notes from Tim Fish, Wine Spectator — 93 points:
"Sleek and bursting with fresh cherry and raspberry fruit, this is built around a complex frame that deftly balances tannins and acidity. Offers notes of smoky pepper, sage and fresh anise."
Total Production: 900 cases
