This vineyard, named for Michael Chiarello’s wife, stands as the "Reserve Level" Cabernet in the portfolio. It is a lovely patch of rocky soil along the west side of the St. Helena estate. 2006 saw small crop size and a warm, long and even growing season.
Tasting notes from Proprietor Michael Chiarello: "2006 Eileen Cabernet is loaded with complexity and a nice range of cherry, currant, and berry with a light pleasant toasty oak finish. Hints of earth and spice and dark fruit, finishing with supple tannins."
Tasting Note from James Laube, Wine Spectator:
"Firm, rich and savory, this full-bodied red starts smooth and creamy, tightening up and keeping the focus on loamy earth, currant, tobacco, red and black licorice and dried berry. Ends with chewy tannins."
Total Production: 460 cases
