The Clark-Claudon Estate vineyard, with elevations from 800 to 1000 feet, enjoys every exposure & varying soil depths. Each section of the vineyard offers something unique to this wonderful Cabernet. Consequently, the Clark-Claudon family gently vinifies & ages the total fruit ield in 5 separate harvest lots. These become the blending pieces of the Clark-Claudon Estate Cabernet.
2006 was one those years that separated the novices from the seasoned artists. Due to challenging weather, the ’06—like the ’98 & ’00 vintages—carried very low expectations. Yet Robert Parker viewed the Clark-Claudon ’98 as a “seamless classic” and proclaimed “…the 2000 was outstanding”. Both of these wines continue to astonish wine lovers with their elegant beauty, complexity, and finesse. The 2006 Clark-Claudon Estate Cabernet most certainly follows down that same path.
Tasting notes from Proprietor Laurie Claudon:
"This elegant Estate Cabernet...greets with a deep purple color & layered aromas of ripe plums, sweet cherries, wild blackberries and cedar with hints of roasted almonds and vanilla...velvety & soft on the palate...beautifully balanced with a fine structure with well-integrated tannins. Layers of flavors unwind revealing ripe black varietal fruit with hints of crushed stones, roasted coffee and sweet oak. The finish is long with hints of Asian spice, minerality, dark cigar bark and chocolate. The bright aromas & velvety smoothness encourages this wine to be drunk now, while the beautiful structure assures that it can age for a long, long time."
Aging Potential: 4-12 years
