***THIS IS AN ETCHED DOUBLE MAGNUM-SIZED (3L) BOTTLE***
The release of the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon is the next step in the continuing evolution of Showket Vineyards. The winemaking team of Russell Bevan and Thomas Brocker has now been in place for more than two years and this wine has their fingerprints all over it. The inclusion of 5% Merlot from the estate vineyard, a first for Showket, an increase in the percentage of Cabernet Franc, and a new oak barrel treatment, along with other changes in the winery have truly raised the bar for Showket Vineyards. The goal is to craft wines that showcase rich textures and decadent flavors and they have certainly achieved their goal with this wine.
Tasting notes from Winemaker Russell Bevan:
“The 2006 Showket Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a departure from past vintages. In addition to the classic cassis and blackberry, this wine has a layer of rich chocolate accent. The merlot also rounded out the middle of the wine giving it a richer, layered quality. Aromatically the wine leaps from the glass: it starts with a wave of deep fruits, which gives way to hints of mocha and coca. In the mouth it has an initial burst of fruit, but it expands across the palate and eventually gives way to a long fruit driven finish. This is a very seductive wine that will be approachable on release and continue to develop for well over a decade.”
