The 2005 Longfellow Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from two "Coombsville" vineyards: Carpignano and Frog Tree, just east of the town of Napa. With the wines of Coombsville, while they have wonderful cellaring potential with great depth and elegant structure, the plush, ripe fruit yields wines that are very approachable young. While laying wine down is never a bad thing, most folks we run into drink their wines fairly young. With Coombsville fruit, you get the best of both worlds. Longfellow uses a combination of French and American oak, the majority of it new, providing a solid tannic structure and backbone for aging, but also different layers of aromas and flavors.

Tasting Notes from Winemaker Rolando Herrera: "Vivid indigo color and aromas of ripe red fruit, eucalyptus, and espresso lead to a blast of black cherry and espresso soaked plums. Already mature beyond its youth, this wine displays mouth coating tannins that lend the richness and structure to age this wine for a decade or more."
