***THIS IS AN IMPERIAL-SIZED (6L) BOTTLE***
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon features two very small vineyard sources, Carpignano & Frog Tree, in the Coombsville region just east of the town of Napa. While the wines have wonderful cellaring potential with great depth and elegant structure, the plush and ripe fruit yields a Cabernet that is very approachable young. Cellaring age-worthy wines down is never a bad thing, but most folks we run into like to drink their wines fairly young. With Coombsville fruit, you get the best of both worlds.
The Longfellow style is to produce wines with layers of aroma and flavor. To this end, they employ a combination of French and American oak, the majority of it new. This combination provides a solid tannic structure and backbone for aging, but also offers different layers of aromas and flavors.
Tasting Notes from Winemaker Rolando Herrera: “Dark purple color and earthy aromas of eucalyptus, dried tobacco, and cocoa lead to a blast of ripe red fruit laced with leather and espresso. Extremely approachable young, this wine displays a unique balance backed by sweet and supple tannins which provide the richness and structure to age this wine for a decade or more.”
