The Jumping Goat Vineyard is located in the heart of St. Helena, next to Spottswoode Winery. It was planted in 1999 by the renowned vineyard manager, David Abreu, with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. This 3.5-acre estate sits on an old river bench, which is reminiscent of the Graves area of Bordeaux.
The 2007 vintage is considered by many as a perfect growing season with no heat waves during ripeness of the grapes. The result was intense and extremely complex flavors and amazing structure. Of the eleven vintages produced of this wine, this is clearly one of the best.
Tasting notes from winemaker and proprietor Philippe Melka: “This predominately Cabernet-based wine possesses a classic nose of spring flowers, black currants, smoke, and forest floor. It is a full-bodied wine with incredibly plush texture, impeccable purity and balance with silky tannins and a long finish.”
Varietal Composition: 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 3% Petite Verdot
Total Production: 375 cases
Aging Potential: 8—12 years
