This is a great new project that we are all excited about here at VC, and we think you should be, too! Mikhail Gishizky has teamed up with none other than our beloved Rolando Herrera (Mi Sueño, Longfellow, Tela) to create some fabulous small-lot bottlings from the hillsides of Mt. Veeder. This “Mountain Cuvée” takes a similar idea of blending Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah that Rolando implements with the Mi Sueño “El Llano” red wine in an entirely different direction. The Cabernet—even in smaller proportions—lends the structure and depth to this blend and the Syrah follows through with wonderfully-earthy spice and a bit of tangy fruit. Let us know what you think, because this wine has been on our minds for a while.
Tasting notes from Proprietor Mikhail Gishizky: "…an elegant, balanced wine blended from Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. This wine has a beautiful garnet color with luscious aromas of raspberry, peach, clove and vanilla essence. A sinuous mouth feel with prominent red cherry, raspberry flavors, accented by underlying hints of tropical fruit, sage, white pepper and a lingering exotic spice, tobacco, cocoa finish. The wine’s supple tannin structure provides a framework to highlight the wonderful complexity of flavors and makes this wine a pleasure to enjoy now and for years to come.”
Blend Composition: 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Syrah
Appellation: California; 85% Sonoma County, 15% Napa Valley
Aging Potential: 7-12 years
