Quite dark in color for a Sangiovese, lots of strawberry and dried cranberry notes with a smoky, meaty character. Pretty big, ripe and round in the mouth. Shows a great deal of richness on the palette yet has the classic Sangiovese juiciness for which this variety is known. Higher in acid than many red varietals. It will go nicely with an array of foods. The '98 vintage provided wines of concentration and good depth of ripe character.
