2013 Lagniappe Peak Vineyards Pere Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Our flagship Cabernet Sauvignon is named after our suave, dapper and much beloved patriarch. The volcanic soil and rocky terrain on Atlas Peak present challenging growing conditions which result in complex and nuanced Bordeaux varietals. Like its’ namesake, Pere is elegant and will age gracefully.

Pere exhibits deep, dark red color with a garnet hue.  This wine's explosive nose is packed with blackberry and black currant fruit notes, integrated toasty oak notes and some earthy, spicy notes.

Balanced and concentrated on the palate, this full bodied wine has flavors of fresh fruit, cigar box, graphite and dark chocolate. The sturdy tannin structure forms a great anchor that extends the long finish.

Harvested October 22, 2013 (Cabernet Sauvignon); and October 8, 2013 (Merlot)
Fermented in open top macro bins
Barrel aged in 100% new French oak for 21 months
Racked three times during aging

A favorite Napa Valley Caberenet - Christopher Sawyer - 1-23-16

Christopher Sawyer, renowned wine writer, private sommelier and competition judge, served as one of the 24 evaluators at the Ninth Annual American Fine Wine competition.  In summarizing his notes from the competition, Christopher called out our 2013 Lagniappe Peak Pere as one of his four favorite cabernet sauvignon entries.

Here is what Christopher had to say about Pere.
